Without having communicated in years, two animators, a former instructor and student, recently made artwork about the Diagnostic Statistical Manual, the publication of the American Psychological Association that serves as an official taxonomy of recognized mental disorders.
Nathania Rubin created animations for a work entitled DSM Series: Attachment Disorder, of which an excerpt is shared here.
Matthew Steinke created three animations, Cluster A, Cluster B, and Cluster C, as part of a multi-media installation about the DSM. Here are examples from all three (with two excerpts from Cluster A). See his site for videos of the robots included in the installation.
